Phytochemical Investigations and Evaluation of Antibacterial and Irritant Potential of Different Extracts of Whole Plant of Solanum Xanthocarpum Schrad and Wendl

      The plant of Solanum xanthocarpum contained alkaloids, tannins, steroids, saponins and sugars. Antibacterial activity of extracts of plant was tested with Agar-Well diffusion technique. The zone of inhibition indicated antibacterial effect. The hexan and aqueous extract had minute but chloroform had strong anti G+ bacterial activity. Ethanolic extract was a strong anti G+ and G– bacterial. All extracts were non-irritant. (Published online: November 25, 2010)

Synthesis, Characterization, Catalytic and Antibacterial Activity of Two Series of Dinuclear Ruthenium Sulphoxide Complexes Using 5,5-Methylenebis(pyridine) as Bis-chelating Bridging Ligand

      The reaction of a new heterocyclic bidentate N containing spacer, (ligand) 5,5’-methylenebis(pyridine) with ruthenium sulphoxide precursors resulted, dinuclear complexes. Catalytic activity of these complexes has been investigated in hydrolysis of benzonitrile. All the complexes exhibit good antibacterial activity against gram-negative bacteria Escherichia coli in comparison to Chloramphenicol. (Published online: June 7, 2011)

(Imido)vanadium(V)-alkyl, Alkylidene Complexes Exhibiting Unique Reactivities towards Olefins, Phenols, and Benzene via 1,2-C-H Bond Activation

      Recent efforts for synthesis and some reactions of (imido)vanadium(V)-alkyl, -alkylidene complexes containing anionic ancillary donor ligand have been summarized. These complexes exhibit notable catalytic activity and/or selectivity for ethylene polymerization/dimerization by the ligand modifications. These alkyl complexes also show unique reactivity toward phenols, and the alkylidene complexes exhibit notable activity for ring-opening metathesis polymerization of norbornene. Profile of Parkia speciosa Hassk Metabolites Extracted with SFE using FTIR- PCA Method

      A rapid identification, classification and discrimination tool, combining Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy and Principal Component Analysis, was developed and applied to determine the chemical component profile of the supercritical fluid extracted Parkia speciosa under various temperature and pressure. Variability under different supercritical fluid extraction conditions and the separation of different chemical compounds in P. speciosa seeds were detected. (Published online: August 5, 2011)

Efficient Liquid-Phase Oxidation of Diphenylmethane to Benzophenone over Vanadium-Containing MCM-41 Catalysts

      Vanadium-containing MCM-41 materials were synthesized by hydrothermal (V-MCM-41) and impregnation (V/MCM-41) methods. In the oxidation of diphenylmethane to benzophenone V-MCM-41 show superior catalytic performance mainly due to the better dispersion and higher oxidation ability of vanadium-oxygen species present in the catalyst. A Modified Synthesis of Some Novel Polycyclic Aromatic Phenazines and Quinoxalines by Using the Tungstate Sulfuric Acid (TSA) as a Reusable Catalyst under Solvent-free Conditions

      For the condensation of 1, 2-dicarbonyls and o-phenylenediamines under solvent-free conditions at room temperature, tungstate sulfuric acid (TSA) was found to be an efficient and reusable reagent. The high yield of the pure products and simple preparation of the catalyst have allowed the synthesis of several phenazines and quinoxalines using this methodology. Direct Determination of Azathioprine in Human Fluids and Pharmaceutical Formulation Using Flow Injection Chemiluminescence Analysis

      The weak CL reaction of Ce(IV) with azathioprine was enhanced by Rh6G in acidic medium. Hereby, a simple, sensitive and inexpensive FI-CL method for azathioprine had been discovered. The proposed method had been triumphantly applied to the determination of azathioprine in human fluids and pharmaceutical formulation with satisfactory results. Study on Spectrophotometric Method for Determination of Bismuth after Flotation Separation Using Microcrystalline Adsorption System

      Under the optimum conditions, DTMAB+ reacted with I- to produce the microcrystalline matter (Ms-M) of (DTMAB+•I-), the water-insoluble ternary association complex of (DTMAB)3[BiI6] was quantificationally adsorbed on the surface of Ms-M of (DTMAB+•I-) .Bi3+ was separated completely from K+,Na+,Ca2+,Mg2+, Co2+, Ni2+, Mn2+, Zn2+,Fe2+ and Al3+.A new method for flotation separation and determination of bismuth using microcrystalline adsorption system was established and it has been successfully applied to the determination of Bi3+ in bismuthiferous drug samples. Transesterification of Soybean Oil Catalyzed by Calcium Hydroxide which Obtained from Hydrolysis Reaction of Calcium Carbide

      Calcium carbide reacts with water to form calcium carbide residue (CCR: main composition is calcium hydroxide) and acetylene. CCR was calcined to form calcium oxide at 600°C, which is the base catalyst for transesterification reaction. Calcinated CCR exhibited highly catalytic to yield FAME for more than 96.5 % conversion yield. (Published online: September 20, 2011)

      A highly efficient protocol for the synthesis of β-acetamido ketone or ester derivatives in the presence of pyrazinium di(hydrogen sulfate) {Py(OSO3H)2} as a novel, green and homogeneous solid acid catalyst (or saccharin sulfonic acid) at room temperature is described. one-pot multi-component condensation of enolizable ketones or alkyl acetoacetates with aldehydes, acetonitrile and acetyl chloride affords the title compounds in high yields and short reaction times. A Powder Based Polyaniline Carbon Paste Electrode for Urea Analysis

      A new polyaniline carbon paste electrode prepared by mixing polyaniline (emeraldine), nafion, graphite powder and urease for urea analysis was exploited. The detection limit of this sensor for urea is 5 μM and the linearity from 5 μM to 7.5 mM is obtained in FIA. This sensor shows good reproducibility and stability.       The direct electrochemistry of GOx was achieved at the β-cyclodextrin/poly(4-aminothiophenol) /Au nanoparticle modified electrode. Electrochemical Oxidation and Sensitive Determination of Pyrogallol at Preanodized Screen-Printed Carbon Electrodes

      We prepared the anodically pretreated screen-printed carbon electrodes (SPCE*) by electrochemical method. The preanodized SPCE* shows larger electrode active surface, faster electron transfer and improved the oxidation of pyrogallol. The working system is highly stable and shows insignificant interferences of some inorganic salts, resorcinol and caffeine. The proposed methods apply to determine pyrogallol in lake water with satisfactory recoveries. (Published online: October 14, 2011)

The method can provide a new natural source of superoxide dismutase from plants. Density Functional Theory Studies on Intermolecular Interactions of 4-Amino-3,5-dinitropyrazole with NH3 and H2O

      Four fully optimized geometries of LLM-116/NH3 and LLM-116/H2O supermolecules were studied using density functional theory method with 6-311++G** basis set. The intermolecular interaction energy and thermodynamic properties were calculated. Natural bond orbital (NBO) analysis was performed.
